RRTI is the recipient of a 3-year Nurse Training grant from the federal Health and Human Services department. The free training will include four professional development programs related to pharmacology and developmental disabilities, and one program on the uses of telemedicine with individuals with DD. The training will be offered via videoconferences across New York State at the DDSO sites provided by OMRDD.

The training programs will begin in January 2010 and will be from 9:00- 12:00. Topics will include Practical Considerations Related to Pharmacology and DD; Categories of Medications; Pharmacology Update; and Mental Health, Pharmacology, Using Telemedicine and DD.

In addition, training participants will have the opportunity to view a new RRTI video related to transfer of knowledge. Training presenters will be: Eileen Trigoboff, RN, APRN/PMH-BC, Phillip McCallion, PhD, Lisa Ferretti, PhD, and Sara Dugan, Pharm. D, BCPP and Al Di Rienzo, President and CEO, Blue Highway LLC.

(Note that this activity has been submitted to the New York State Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The New York State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation)
