Course #1 (A&B) | Nurse Training Program: Practical Considerations Related to Pharmacology and Developmental Disabilities
Session #1 is has two parts. Nurses must complete both parts to receive NYSNA contact hours. Designed for nurses who are involved in assessing the medical status of individuals with developmental disabilities, this session will cover practical information related to intake and assessment; communication with consumers, patients, and caregivers; explanations for behavior changes; and pharmacology options (including strategies for administering and monitoring medications).
At the conclusion of the videoconference, participants must complete a video module on-line at their own facilities. A 30-minute video on Transfer of Knowledge is shown, demonstrating realistic strategies for sharing information from the Nurse Training Program with co-workers and supervisors. Nurses will have until May 2011 to complete the video module.
NOTE: NYSNA contact hours will not be granted unless both parts have been completed.
